1995 Miscellaneous Race Car in Scotts Valley, California
Description:
24 Hours of Le Mans 1995, 1996, 1998 Following on the success of the CK7s in Interserie use, Kremer saw the opportunity to adapt their design to the new open-cockpit formulas that were being allowed in the IMSA GT Championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Once again, the 962CK6s were used as a base, although some styling elements were changed between the CK7 and the new K8 Spyder in order to conform to the rules used in these events. Mechanically the cars were very similar to the 962 with the exception of a full carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The K8s would be required to maintain their two-seater layout as had been used on the 962CK6s. The roof and doors were removed and an open cockpit body developed. Erwin Kremer designed and the new body which was executed by Sepp and Roy Korytko in Kevlar-reinforced carbon-fiber. The rules also necessitated the addition of a rollbar to the top of the engine cover, to better protect a driver's head in the event of a accident. Also, to meet engine requirements, Kremer chose to use a smaller variant of the Flat-6, running only a 3.0 litre displacement. The large snorkels for feeding the turbochargers were also replaced with a more discreet inlet. Three K8 Spyders were built by Kremer during this time This car is Chassis WCS02 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours Kremer Racing Grid 5th (3:55.090) Result: Finished 6th Driven by: Thierry Boutsen, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Christophe Bouchut 1996 Pre-Qualifying Le Mans Kremer Racing 9th fastest Driven by: Christophe Bouchut (F)-Jrgen Lssig (D) 1996 Le Mans 24 Hours Kremer Racing Grid 18th (3:52.376) Result: DNF (Accident) Driven by: George Fouch (ZA)-Steve Fossett (USA)-Stanley Dickens (S) preliminary session only: Jrgen Lssig (D), Christophe Bouchut (F) 1996 Coupes d' Automne ACO Le Mans 4 hours Kremer Racing Grid: 7th (1:39.630) Result: 2nd OA, 1st LMP 1 Heats one and two 1997 Le Mans 24 Hours Kremer Racing Grid: 15th (3:55.981) Result: DNF (engine) Driven by: Tomas Saldaa (E)-Carl Rosenblad (S)-Jrgen Lssig (D) preliminary session only: Christophe Bouchut (F), Giovanni Lavaggi (I) 1997 Gran Premio Repsol Sport Prototipos International Sports Racing Series Jarama Kremer Racing Grid: 4th (1:33.424) Result: 7th Driven by: Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Tomas Saldaa (E) 1998 Monza 1000L Kremer Racing Grid: 10th Result 7th OA, 1st LMP1 Driven by: Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Tomas Saldaa (E)-Enrico Bertaggia (I) 1998 Pre-Qualifying Le Mans Kremer Racing Result: 38th Driven by: Tomas Saldaa (E)-Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Enrico Bertaggia (I) 1998 RAC Tourist Trophy International Sports Racing Series Donington Kremer Racing Grid: 13th (1:33.680) Result: 9th Driven by: Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Tomas Saldaa (E) 1998 DMC-ADAC Sportwagen Festival International Sports Racing Series Nrburgring Kremer Racing Grid: 16th (1:40.400) Result: DNF (spin) Driven by: Tomas Saldaa (E)-Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Marco Werner (D) listed, never drove: Ralf Kelleners (D) 1998 Les Coupes d'Automne International Sports Racing Series Le Mans Kremer Racing Grid: 13th (1:43.853) Result 8th Driven by: Alfonso de Orleans (E)-Tomas Saldaa (E)-Miguel ngel de Castro (E) SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PHOTOS -
