-60's Gimbel Special Sewing Machine Model 15 Vintage Beauty. Serial Number S5. Minimal rust, needs some routine cleaning. Straight-stitch machine with built-in reverse. Attachments for zig-zag stitching and other special functions are commonly available for reasonable prices.
This is commonly referred to as a Gimbel's "Badged" Sewing Machine, Deluxe Precision model, probably manufactured under contract for and sold by Gimbel's Department Store chain. Probably early 's Vintage, maybe late 's, made in Japan at the height of an era when some of the greatest sewing machines were made. It's a standard model 15 Sewing Machine and uses industry standard attachments, bobbins and needles that are commonly available.
A base from an old carry-case is included but no cover. The base should be packaged separately to prevent damage, so you can save on shipping by opting to not take the base.
I consider this to be a somewhat 'heavy-duty' machine, but it definitely is _not_ an 'industrial' sewing machine, despite the many sewing machine sellers (such as is often seen on on the major online auction venues) who label machines like this as being 'industrial' or 'industrial-strength'.
